Duckweed is a great teaching organism. It grows fast enough to show visible change within a class or two, it's cheap and easy to keep, and it lends itself to hands-on experiments in plant growth, nutrient uptake, water quality and ecotoxicology. The ACDC's own outreach and education materials will be added here as we develop them — in the meantime, a few useful starting points:
- The Charms of Duckweed — a friendly, wide-ranging introduction to duckweed biology by Dr John Cross, hosted by the Missouri Botanical Garden.
- The Rutgers Duckweed Stock Cooperative & Duckweed Forum — the community's stock centre and quarterly newsletter, with plenty of accessible articles about duckweed and its uses.
- Our external links page — collections, databases and organisations across the duckweed community.
